ESPNews HD Launches Today with a New Look

As announced earlier, ESPNews has launched its high-definition channel today at 8.00 AM ET with the networks first hour simulcast on ESPN HD and later on ESPN 2 HD and ESPN. Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable have signed carriage agreement with the channel to carry the new HD channel, but not to carry during the launch.

Texas Rangers to produce 86 HD games for 2008 season

Time Warner to bring MLB Extra Innings 2008 In HD

Apart from DirecTV, only few operators present the MLB Extra Innings this season. According to TVPredictions.com, Dish Network won't broadcast MLB Extra Innings either in standard or high-definition. Cox Communications in Rhode Island and San Diego will provide high-definition version of the games. Cablevision will carry the games but have not disclosed the amount of games and which areas the games will be broadcasted.

Apart from DirecTV, no other service provider would give in-depth coverage of Major League Baseball Extra Innings, the satcater will provide up to 40 high-definition games a week. Last year DirecTV signed seven year contract with MLB at an exclusive deal of $700 million. DirecTV's competitor Dish Network, did not offer the package of out-of-market' baseball games during the 2007 season. DirecTV reached agreement with Hallmark Channel

The leading satellite television provider DirecTV has renewed the carriage rights of Crown Media Holdings Hallmark Movie Channel and Hallmark Channel for multi-year term. The terms of the deal was not disclosed. This carriage agreement will allow DirecTV to carry standard and high-definition versions of Hallmark Movie Channel. DirecTV on its press release stated that the sat caster won't carry The Hallmark Movie Channel's high-definition version during its launch on April 2.

DirecTV subscribers can view Gospel Music Channel from March 19

Atlanta based Gospel Music Channel (GMC) will be available for DirecTV customers from March 19 on channel 339.
